James' feet were measured at a whopping size of 3½ so seeing as most of the proper outside shoes start at size 4, Em bought this cute little pair which James seems to get along well with.

We spent the weekend down on the South Coast again, this time for the family picnic. Even though the forecast looked bleak we were fortunate enough to have a dry if windy day. It certainly didn't stop the main man from having a lovely time and here he shares the swing with Molly.

Granny and James help to set out the cones for the annual game of rounders. Guess who's taking the set up of the pitch seriously here!

James decides that he'll field at second base and takes up station by the cone.

James scores his first ever try by touching the ball down. The fact that he couldn't pick the ball up is totally insubstantial!

Anything that is left lying around will be picked up and played with, then usually thrown. Perfect then that we found a tennis ball! With the Wimbledon finals taking place over the weekend, James decides that he'll be a ball boy for the day. I love the way he often has both hands above the head to throw things!

Check out the effort as James launches himself into a big throw. As you can see, a throw is often accompanied by a shout of some sort!

Back to the oval ball and James takes stock of the field before launching himself into another darting run!

Waking up the next morning, our little lad has his first proper graze! With all the different surfaces he was running around on the day before, it was inevitable that he'd pick up a few scratches and scrapes along the way. The first of many no doubt!

Back to more sedate pastimes, James sets out reading one of his favourite books. Feel how bumpy the side of the train is!

We love doing laps of Granny and Grandad's house. Through the lounge, into the kitchen, then into the conservatory and back into the lounge. We have been taught to hold on though when going over the frame of the doors!

As all the "oldies" sit down for their lunch, James, having already eaten, wonders why they all need to eat and sets himself up by a footstool to ponder what they are all doing. I reckon he'll go into catalogue modelling at this rate with poses like this one!

With the Fuzzy crew over for the weekend, we headed up to Cefn Mably farm to see the animals. This is a fairly typical view nowadays of James zooming off to investigate what's ahead.

When you're the size James is, things look pretty big. These horses certainly fit in the "big" category and as he ran up to them he stopped at a safe distance, just to be sure, before having a good look!

Curiosity satisfied, James manages a look back for reassurance from his parents to check that the horsies are a good thing.

There were all sorts of fun things to do at the farm, and several sand pits gave James an opportunity to play in the sand for the first time.

After feeling the sand run through his fingers, it was time to do a quick bit of rocking on the very pink rocking horse!

Out of the sandpit James managed to find a see-saw, and after a comedy tumble he got back on and played with Bek for a while.

It was a lovely afternoon and quite warm so of course the dreaded hat was in operation. James being his usual feisty self, kept everyone busy with "replacing hat duties".

A miracle! We are wearing the hat and we've got a smile on our face. After a while James tends to forget that the H A T is on his head and carries on as normal. It often doesn't last long so we make the most of these happy hat moments!

After yet another hat replacement operation, James takes a little thumb time to consider the world (and most likely the next hat removal).

After our first encounter with a llama, James runs over to daddy who is trying to take his photograph. This is just before James runs straight into the camera!

Walking along beside the ponies field, do you get the impression that we have a hat compromise here? It's not really being worn, just "on" the head!

Another great play opportunity at the farm were several pedal tractors. With James legs being so small he couldn't reach the pedals but he was more than happy to be pushed around and enjoy driving the tractor!

Daddy helped James drive the tractor for a while and while they looked at some of the animals, Mummy managed to take this lovely picture.

After enjoying ourselves at the farm, we came back to Cardiff and went for a walk around the lake at Roath Park. With numerous volunteers for pram pushing, James certainly enjoyed himself with all the races and pram stunts!

All this excitement in one day eventually takes its toll. After we had all walked round the lake, James had dropped off with the ever present thumb still in its usual position.

In fact we were so happily asleep that Mummy decided on walking James home to prolong the snooze while Daddy drove back!

Sunday was a lovely sunny day with a strong breeze and we'd decided to take everyone down to Cardiff Bay. James was itching to get out of the pram and do some more walking so at the Norwegian Church, out he got!

Daddy and James head off on another stroll. I love the look on the two chaps faces as they watch James zooming off on another little adventure! The two ladies did exactly the same a few moments later!

After being stopped from going too far from everyone else, James looks back to see where his Mummy is. She was "doing a Daddy" and pointing that funny black box at him again!

Marching back to Mummy does take some concentration and we can see how much of a mission we're on here!

Another balanced hat and some sturdy railings to stop James from going that bit too far mean that all is well with team Thomas! James takes in the view of Cardiff Bay.

James decided that he was going to check out the new bridge that completes access to the barrage from the Bay area. He wasn't deterred by the fact that it was only him off exploring!

Eventually we all joined James and headed over the bridge for a stroll. He soon noticed that the hat was back and swiftly made efforts to remove it!

Back at the car and out of the wind, we had a last little run around before lunch, this time showing the world who we are!
