1st March and a local outing around Cardiff was productive with Mistle Thrush, Redwing, Goldcrest, Jay, Kestrel and Oystercatcher.

2nd March gave me a new picture tick with a grainy shot of a Firecrest that was easy to see but very difficult to photgraph!

After many attempts I finally managed to spot the Ring-billed Gull at Lamby Lake on 7th March. A brief visit down to Cardiff Bay gave a nice view of a pair of Goosander, and also a tame Pied Wagtail sheltering from the wind.

A trip to Gower on 9th March and a brief stroll along the cliffs at Pennard got another UK tick with wonderful views of a Cattle Egret.

19th March 2008. Leaving work early I took a detour back via the Forest of Dean to hopefully catch a few nice things. No luck with the Hawfinches I'd hope to spot but I did see some nice Brambling. A trip to the New Fancy lookout didn't produce any photos but I did get a glimpse of a Goshawk through the trees. I was fortunate to spot an Adder sunning itself in the grass on the walk back to the car. Finally it was off to Boy's Grave where I got lucky and managed a new UK tick for me with a Great Grey Shrike.
